Chubb organizes ‘Regional Day of Service’ in Hong Kong
Chubb’s life and general insurance operations in Hong Kong jointly held the ‘Regional Day of Service’ in the week of 6 November, during which more than 100 employees volunteered at St. James’ Settlement People’s Food Bank to pack and deliver hot and healthy meals to seniors in the Kowloon East District, and brought 100 elderly people to visit the Hong Kong Observation Deck at the 100th floor of the International Commerce Centre to enjoy the spectacular view of Hong Kong.
St. James’ Settlement has been serving the city for 65 years. Every day, its People’s Food Bank provides nutritious hot meals for underprivileged people, particularly the elderly, who pay just a small part of the cost. The home-cooked food were packed into lunch boxes and delivered by a group of volunteers to other charities, elderly centers and homes of frail seniors. For beneficiaries suffering from illnesses such as diabetes, healthy lunch boxes with low sodium and sugar levels were prepared to specifically cater to their needs. The Food Bank’s aim is to relieve hunger and to promote social cohesion by encouraging people to share resources with the less fortunate.
The tour to the tallest building in Hong Kong provided 100 elderly people the opportunity to enjoy Hong Kong’s scenery and urban landscape, the exhibition there also provided them an opportunity to revisit the city’s history through the breathtaking views of Hong Kong. The elderly enjoyed a day tour with a group of volunteers from Chubb, followed by a happy lunch at an authentic Chinese restaurant.

The ‘Regional Day of Service’ has been held annually since 2012 at Chubb. It reflects Chubb’s firm belief that positive contributions to communities return long-lasting benefits to society and the company’s employees and business. Employees across 12 markets in the Asia Pacific region devoted their time to various charitable projects in November. Their community outreach activities focused on two main causes – increasing educational opportunities for underprivileged students, and improving livelihoods for individuals and communities.
Mr. Michael Ho, Country President of Chubb Life in Hong Kong, said “Our ‘Regional Day of Service’ activities underscore Chubb’s commitment to helping individuals in coping with everyday needs as well as making a difference in the lives of the underprivileged. Volunteering at the Food Bank encourages employees to care for the society, while the tour with the elderly reminds us to cherish time spent with our beloved. At Chubb, our employees are our most valuable assets and it’s part of our responsibility to facilitate a culture that encourages us to repay the society where we do business.”
Mr. Doug White, Country President of Chubb General Insurance in Hong Kong added, “We have a strong culture and commitment to giving back to local communities. Through our philanthropic initiatives, we continue to serve in areas that align with our priorities.
